Applying the Chemistry of Quality

Through ADB Wheat Consulting, I specialize in assisting wheat buyers and end-users in maximizing their economic utilization of wheat. Identifying key traits that are reflected in end-use quality, and providing rapid, robust tests for those traits is my focus. Prior to retirement from the USDA, I had 31 years of experience working at the USDA-ARS Western Wheat Quality Lab, Pullman Washington. During that time, I was deeply involved in the development and release of new cultivars within the Western United States. I specialize in fundamental research into the biochemical and genetic constituents of wheat, how those constituents relate to end-use functionality, and I developed tests used to identify important functional characteristics.
